Simple Pleasures that Really Make my Day!

(Note: Reader input will be like totally appreciated...for sure! You all are so Rad! I don't know what I'd do without ya!) That was written in my best valley girl impression...one of the "little things" I love to do.

You may call me a simpleton, or say I'm just plain weird, but the fact is, I get great pleasure out of the little things in life.  The other day I was ecstatic about finding a hidden compartment for my iPod inside my new jogging shorts.  It absolutely made my day! I told my Facebook friends that it felt like I had just found a twenty dollar bill  in the washing machine. Thankfully, my friends understand my weirdness, and don't de-friend me because of my high volume of seemingly random, insignificant posts.

Honestly, if I just wrote about the really big stuff that happens in my life, I'd be silent for months at a time. Besides, I'm a firm believer in celebrating the little things.  They're the stuff that life is made of!

I love it when I treat my kids to a 1/2 priced Sonic drink during Happy Hour, and I find out that  I'm the lucky recipient of a coupon for an additional free Large Drink at the bottom of my receipt! That makes my day!

I like cleaning out boxes and stumbling across  really old pictures where my hair was ridiculously big.  Then I like laughing about it with my kids.

I enjoy reading the Sunday comics in the newspaper after church.

I love painting my toenails in outrageous ways with my girls.

I get a kick out of loudly singing every single word of a stupid old song that was popular when I was in Jr. High while holding a wooden spoon microphone...while cooking dinner...while my kids laugh and hold their hands over their ears and roll their eyes. (Evidently, I love run-on sentences too.)

I love to mow my lawn diagonally into diamond shapes.

I love collecting warm eggs right out from underneath my hens.

I enjoy putting Cheetos in the middle of my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It's a delicious week day delicacy.

I like drinking out of mason jars.

I like putting decorative sprinkles on our oatmeal.

I love to write mushy love notes and put them in my husband's lunchbox...complete with XOXOXO.

I could blab on and on about the simple things I enjoy, but I'm going to turn this over to you, my prized readers.  I want to know about the little things that you really love. Whether you are one of my faithful followers, just a blog browser, or a silent blog stocker, just shout out one of your simple pleasures in the comments!

Thanks for being a participant,

Nell

I relish the little things, too. :)

  9. I love hearing the katydids sing their noisy songs. It's a sure sign fall is just around the corner.

I also get a thrill when I find things. I was thinking of doing a blog post about it soon even if people think I'm a little kooky for being thrilled at finding a box of garbage bags and half of a roll of paper towels.

  10. I love curling up with a good book. I do it almost every day, no matter how busy I am.

  11. I like a good John Wayne movie, a soft toilet paper, neatly trimmed hedges in the lawn, a big John Deere tractor, and a good ribeye steak from the grill. I also like watching my wife slowly nod off during any and every movie, and embarrassing my sister in every department store that we are in together by trying on gaudy accessories and talking in weird loud voices.

  12. Growing up in the 50's with an outside toilet and no bathroom or hot water, my biggest pleasure is a hot shower in my bathroom! I also love a freshly made bed with wind blown sheets.
My dogs lovely silky ears are my comforter (until she's had enough and moves away) and I love a day at the beach with my 4 grandchildren.
I like being outdoors in our beautiful countryside, and a wander through different villages along the way. At night I like to lose myself in a few pages of a well written novel.Best Wishes, Sally, Lincolnshire. UK.

  13. I love it when I'm talking to my husband and I say something that makes him laugh out loud.

I like to clean the clutter off the counters in the kitchen. I'll admire the counters every chance I get because they don't stay that way long.

I cherish the times my children want to hug me, hold my hand, or run into the room just to tell me they love me. I'm afraid that they are growing up so fast and one day will find these small acts of love too childish.
